THENGAI CHUTNEY (COCONUT CHUTNEY)

Makes :
2 cups

Preparation Time :
10 minutes

Cooking Time :
2 minutes

Preparation Method :

  • Grind coconut, chili, ginger and salt in a mixer to half the consistency.
  • Add the roasted chana dal and grind to a coarse paste.

Tempering  

  • Put the oil in a pan over medium heat. When the oil is hot, add the tempering ingredients.
  • Fry over medium heat, till mustard seeds splutter and the urad dhal is golden.
  • Add the seasoning to the chutney and serve.

 

 

INGREDIENTS

  • 200 grams grated fresh coconut
  • 3-4 green chilies
  • 1 tablespoon minced fresh ginger
  • 1 tablespoon roasted chana dal
  • Salt, to taste

Tempering  

  • 2 teaspoon Cooking oil
  • ΒΌ teaspoon asafetida powder
  • Few curry leaves
  • 1 dried red chili
  • 1 teaspoon black mustard seeds
  • 1 teaspoon urad dhal
