Preparation Method :

  • Grind all the chutney ingredients to a smooth paste without water.
  • The Tempering: Put the oil in a skillet over medium heat. When the oil is hot, add the tempering ingredients.
  • Fry over medium heat, till mustard seeds splutter and the dhal is golden. Pour the ground chutney into the skillet.
  • Cook covered over low heat for about 5 minutes. Remove from heat, cool and serve.


  • 2 medium sized onions, chopped finely
  • 100 grams chopped tomatoes
  • 2 garlic cloves
  • 8 Dried red chilies, to taste
  • Salt, to taste


  • 1 teaspoon black mustard seeds
  • 1 teaspoon urad dhal
  • 2 teaspoon Cooking oil
  • ΒΌ teaspoon asafetida powder
  • Few curry leaves
