Preparation Method :

  • Place the butter or ghee in a small pan over medium heat and fry the cashew nuts, till golden brown. Set aside.
  • Heat the milk over medium heat to boiling point in a pan.
  • Add the dhal and mix well. Cook over medium heat for 5-7 minutes, stirring frequently.
  • Add the remaining ingredients with the fried cashew nuts and cook for a few minutes over low-medium heat, stirring frequently. Serve hot or cold.



  • 400 ml milk
  • 50 grams moong dhal, rinsed, soaked, drained, cooked and mashed
  • 1 tablespoon butter or ghee
  • 30 grams cashew nuts
  • ½ teaspoon powdered green cardamom
  • 100 grams packed dark brown sugar
  • Few saffron strands
