Preparation Method :

  • The Tempering: Heat the oil in a wok over medium heat. Add the tempering ingredients. Allow the cumin seeds to turn brown.
  • Add the onions, tomatoes, garlic and ginger. Stir-fry for a 1-2 minutes.
  • Mix in turmeric, chili and cumin powders with little warm water.
  • Add black pepper and cumin powder. Adjust the seasoning with salt and chili. Cover and cook for few minutes.
  • Add prawns. Cover the skillet and cook for 5 minutes. Add coriander leaves and stir-fry uncovered for an additional few minutes before serving.


  • 500 Grams fresh prawns, shelled, de-veined, washed and drained
  • 60 grams finely chopped onions
  • 6 garlic cloves, chopped
  • 3 tablespoon minced fresh ginger
  • ½ teaspoon turmeric powder
  • 100 grams chopped tomatoes
  • Red chili powder, to taste
  • ½ teaspoon cumin powder
  • Salt, to taste
  • 1 teaspoon black pepper and cumin powder
  • 30 grams chopped fresh coriander leaves


  • 1 tablespoon Cooking oil
  • Few curry leaves
  • ½ teaspoon fennel seeds
