Preparation Method :

  • Melt jaggery in hot water and strain to remove scum.
  • Add grated coconut to the jaggery; stir well before adding the jackfruit pieces and cardamom powder.
  • When it leaves the sides, empty in a vessel and keep aside.
  • In a banana leaf spread the rice batter thickly; add the filling to half of it and fold the leaf. Steam-cook it for ten minutes.
  • Use fresh banana leaves and steam the rest of it.
  • Open the banana leaves and remove the steamed adais. Cut them into 2 inch long pieces.


  • 600 grams of Parboiled Rice 
  • Soak for 30 minutes and grind like idly batter 
  • 600 ml of Milk 

For Filling: 

  • 600 grams of Coconut 
  • 400 grams of Jaggery 
  • 2 tablespoon Cardamom 
  • 400 grams of Jackfruit 
  • Plantain leaves a few
