TRADITIONAL INDIAN VERMICELLI

Preparation Method :

  • Crush the vermicelli into small pieces and place it in a pan.
  • Pour in the water, bring to the boil, add saffron and boil for about 3-5 minutes.
  • Stir in the sugar and continue cooking until the water has evaporated. Strain through a sieve, if necessary, to remove any excess liquid.
  • Place the vermicelli in a serving dish and decorate with the coconut, almonds, pistachio nuts and sugar. Serve with fromage frais or yogurt.

INGREDIENTS

  • 120 grams vermicelli
  • 1 liter water
  • ½ teaspoon saffron threads
  • 1 tablespoon granulated sugar
  • 50 grams low fat fromage frais, yogurt, to serve

To decorate

  • 1 tablespoon shredded fresh or desiccated (dry unsweetened shredded) coconut
  • 1 tablespoon flaked (sliced) almonds
  • 1 tablespoon chopped pistachio nuts
  • 1 tablespoon granulated sugar
