CHANNA DAL

Preparation Method :

  • Drain dal. Place dal with water in a pressure cooker. Add salt, sugar and turmeric. Pressure cook to allow 2 whistles, immediately remove from heat. Let pressure drop by itself when it cools.
  • Heat ghee in a small kadhai. Add bay leaf, cumin seeds, cinnamon, cloves and cardamoms. Stir for ½ minute and add to the dal.
  • Return the dal to heat. Cover and simmer for 5 minutes till well blended.
  • Add coconut and raisins. Serve hot.

 

INGREDIENTS

  • 200 grams channa dal - wash and soak for 30 minutes
  • 1 teaspoon salt
  • 1¼ teaspoon sugar
  • ¼ teaspoon turmeric powder

  • 2 tablespoon ghee
  • 1 bay leaf
  • ½ teaspoon cumin seeds
  • 4 cloves
  • 2 pieces cinnamon
  • 3 green cardamoms- crushed
  • 2 tablespoon fresh coconut - cut into pieces
  • 1 tablespoon raisins
