Preparation Method :

  • Grind all ingredients of the paste together.
  • Heat ghee in a heavy pan. Add sliced onions. Fry for about 3-5 minutes till they turn brown.
  • Add paste to the onions and sauté on medium heat for 5 minutes. Then add the boiled red lentil and salt with tomatoes. Cover and cook for another 5 minutes.
  • Garnish with chopped coriander and serve hot.


  • 150 grams Red lentil , 20 minutes
  • 1 big onion - sliced finely
  • 2 large tomatoes - chopped 
  • 5 pearl onions
  • 2 tablespoon ghee
  • 1½ tablespoon chopped coriander
  • Salt to taste


  • 4 cloves garlic 
  • 2 dry red chilies
  • 2 teaspoon coriander seeds 
  • 1 teaspoon cumin seeds 
  • 1½ " piece ginger
