Preparation Method :

  • Tear papad into tiny bits.                          
  • Extract tamarind juice.
  • Heat 2 teaspoons of oil and allow the mustard seeds to splutter. Now roast the methi seeds. Add the papad pieces and fry in oil.
  • Now add tamarind extract, sambhar powder, asafoetida powder, salt and half the curry leaves.
  • Pressure cook for two whistles.
  • Serve hot with steaming dal rice.


  • 4 medium-sized appalam
  • 4 teaspoons of sambhar powder
  • Large-sized lemon tamarind
  • A few curry leaves
  • 2 teaspoon of asafoetida powder
  • 1 teaspoon of mustard seeds
  • 10 methi
  • 3 teaspoons of Cooking oil
  • 3 tablespoon sesame oil
  • Salt to taste
