Preparation Method :

  • Add the ginger, garlic, green chillies, water and fresh coriander until the lentils are soft but not mushy and the water has been absorbed.
  • Turn off the heat and stir in the salt. Transfer into a serving bowl.
  • In a frying pan, heat the oil and butter together and fry the chopped onion until golden brown.
  • Pour the seasoning over the lentils in the bowl and garnish with the fresh coriander and chopped green chillies. 

INGREDIENTS

  • 175 grams urid dhaal , (Pick over and wash the lentils)
  • ½ teaspoon diced and crushed ginger root 
  • ½ teaspoon crushed garlic 
  • 3 green chillies, chopped
  • 500 ml water
  • 2 tablespoons fresh coriander 
  • 1 teaspoon salt

Seasoning

  • 2 tablespoons Cooking oil
  • 50 grams butter 
  • 1 medium onion

Garnish

  • 2 tablespoons chopped fresh coriander 
  • 2 chopped green chillies
