Preparation Method :

  • Soak dal overnight. Wash, rub and remove the green skin. Drain and grind it, using as little water as possible.
  • Heat ghee in a kadhai. Add the ground paste in ghee and fry on a medium to slow heat for 45-50 minutes, stiring continuously.
  • When it turns pink in colour, dries and the ghee separates, add sugar and milk.
  • Cook the mixture on a slow heat. Keep stirring for 10 minutes.
  • When the mixture dries up again, add the remaining ghee. Fry for 5 minutes. Add half the chopped dry fruits and saffron.
  • Remove from the heat. Decorate with remaining dry fruits, cardamom.



  • 500 grams split green moong
  • 650 grams ghee
  • 450 grams sugar
  • 1 litre milk
  • ½ teaspoon green cardamom powder
  • 8-10 threads saffron - soak in 2 tablespoon hot water
  • 50 grams cashew nuts
  • 2 tablespoon almonds
  • 2 tablespoon raisins
