Preparation Method

  • Rinse the salt fish and keep aside.
  • Heat a deep frying pan with three tablespoon of Idhayam sesame oil, when it becomes hot, add the salted fish, fry till golden brown and keep aside.
  • Chop the tomatoes and onion.
  • Slit the green chillies.
  • Heat another pan with rest of the oil, saute onion and ginger garlic paste.
  • Add turmeric powder, chilli powder and fry for a minute.
  • To this add brinjal, green chillies, tender tamarind leaves, tomato and fry for a minute.
  • Pour a cup of water, add salt and cook until the tamarind leaves and the brinjal is done.
  • Flip the salt fish and serve along with hot steamed rice.
