Preparation Method

  • Soak toor dhal for an hour and grind it.
  • Chop two onion and green chillies finely.
  • Mix one chopped onion, green chillies, salt and coriander leaves to the toor dhal batter.
  • Make into small balls and keep aside.
  • Grind red chillies, cumin seed and grated coconut to a fine paste.
  • Soak tamarind in water and extract the juice.
  • Heat a broad pan with Idhayam Sesame Oil
  • Temper mustard, add  curry leaves, saute rest of onion till translucent.
  • Add the ground masala, turmeric powder and salt to the tamarind extract.
  • Pour the tamarind extract and allow it to boil in a low flame.
  • Flip the dhal balls into the gravy.
  • Once the dhal balls are cooked and the gravy thickens, remove from fire.
