Preparation Method

  • Soak the chana dhal for two hours.
  • Grate the coconut and grind it with cashew nuts.
  • Grind ginger, coriander powder, chilli powder, turmeric powder, cumin powder, and poppy seed.
  • Grind the chana dhal with salt, green chillies, fennel to a coarse and to a thick consistency.
  • Heat a pan with Idhayam sesame oil.
  • Take the dough and drop them into hot oil as pakodas.
  • Fry till golden and keep aside.
  • Heat a heavy bottomed pan with Idhayam sesame oil.
  • Saute onion and tomatoes.
  • Add the ground masala and fry until the raw smell goes.
  • To this add the coconut, cashew nut paste and stir well.
  • Pour required amount of water, salt and allow it to boil.
  • Flip the pakodas to the gravy and let it for five minutes.
  • Remove from fire and serve hot.
