Preparation Method

  • Soak the rice and toor dhal in water.
  • Drain it and pound coarsely
  • Slit green chillies.
  • Heat Idhayam Sesame Oil in a p an.
  • Add mustard, when it splutters and urad dhal, curry leaves, green chillies and fry.
  • Take 600 ml of water, salt and allow it to boil.
  • Add the broken rice-toor dhal mixture and mix well.
  • When the rice mixture is done add the grated coconut, close with a lid and keep in a low flame for three minutes.
  • In a different pan heat ghee, temper pepper, cumin seed  and add this to the upma.
  • Mix well and serve hot.
